John & Kira’s best selling point is the quirky and endearing designs of the various chocolate collections. The chocolates are captured through beautiful photography, highlighting the handmade details and evoke thematic imagination. The rotation of cinematic splash images of new products, promotional messages, and customer favorites—all clickable and linked to appropriate sections. Best-sellers and featured products (all of which can easily be swapped) rotated to impress a dynamic website. Cross-selling allowed an overview of the many collections. More prominence was placed on catalogs, offering an on-line flip-page perusal. Secondary and tertiary information could be accessed from the footer, logical lists of extensive links to additional information about the company.
Considering online experience has shifted drastically over the past years where an exponential number of users consumed information on mobile devices, John & Kira’s was long overdue to address that need. Information presentation was more carefully considered, optimizing fast products images transfer and controlling a solid path to conversion. Much of story-telling was played down to reduce clutter, streamlining the experience to e-commerce.
The overall solution presented a cleaner layout with focus on products and more prominent add-to-cart functionality. A thematic header image designed for each collection to draw in the casual viewer, hinting what to expect. A sorting feature was added to more easily explore collections with many different products offering. Understated but prominent social media links encouraged following and likes, promoting self-propelling organic advertising. Other links in the footer allowed those curious customers to explore the site even deeper and learn more about John & Kira’s sourcing and creative process, engaging and entertaining them beyond just chocolates.
